Heh, this really reminds me of oracle. Do you just train mapping or do you have to playtest and balance the maps too?

Anna

We didn't get into the gameplay related stuff yet, that's next year. I'll probably make another version of this map, cause I like the theme - the same as in oracle, in fact I had that in mind when I was designing this map :) P.S. If I'm not mistaken I haven't heard from you in a while :D

why's the lighting so dull? engine3is capable of brilliance

Anna

Most of the crapiness of this level can be attributed to the fact that I didn't finish it - the static meshes don't have bump maps or spec maps, same with some of the other materials, for lighting I just threw in a few point lights and a sky light, and lots of other stuff is missing.

Anna

Also, I like the washed-out N64 look :)

I guess the basics are important to rub in. Besides different games need different kinds of maps.
Yeah I haven't really been that active net-wise, especially not with soldat related stuff. Checked out on Crimson Glory and I saw the link here in MM's blog. Glad you haven't disappeared.

I like your level it would be awsome in a complete game in 1 year?

Keep up the good work.

I figured I would start commenting.

Anyways, I'm somewhat curious as to how Unreal Engine 3 is. Does everything really end up looking shiny as every UE3 game seems to be?

Anna

The engine is pretty flexible, so I don't think shininess is inevitable. In the editor there is a materials editor that allows you to combine and manipulate textures in interesting ways. It's easy to go overboard :) The unreal editor is a vast and powerful tool.
